A funeral was held Monday for the 16-year-old who died last week after colliding with another player during a soccer game.
The community came together to mourn Thomas Jakelich, who grew up in Bronxville and was known for his wonderful smile and making others happy.
Jakelich collided with another soccer player during a match on Randall's Island, and lacerated his liver.
He died a few hours later at a Manhattan hospital.
Buses brought mourners to and from the Mass, which was held at St. Ignatius Loyola Church on Park Avenue.
