Frustration is spilling over in Croton-on-Hudson due to water damage at a storage facility.
Fire and police officials were on scene early Tuesday morning at Maple Self Storage facility in Croton-On-Hudson due to a broken water pipe.
Renter David Gordon says he has stored documents, collectors' items, electronics and family memorabilia in a storage unit here for the past two years.
"Everything that you can't replace…and you can't put a price tag on that," he says.
Most of those items are now damaged
"My heart's broken, and I don't know what I'm going to do," he says.
It's not just the loss of belongings but also the aftermath. Renter Edna Diven says she has tried to contact the owner to no avail. Gordon says no one has been available when he tried to contact them.
The facility has said that renter's insurance should cover damage, but not everyone read that memo.
"They are not liable because I don't have renter's insurance," says Diven. "You trust a place like this to preserve your things and then they don't want to take any liability."
Gordon says that he does not plan to pay rent until some responsibility is taken. He was also told he isn't expected to pay.
