Firefighters were out in force Wednesday morning to battle a fire at a century-old building in Somers.
Around 120 firefighters from surrounding departments responded to the fire at a home located on a 40-acre piece of property on Orchard Hill Road. The frigid weather hampered the efforts of firefighters as they battled flames that started in a downstairs room of the home. The building was once a barn that was converted into a home. Firefighters say because of the building's age and construction, the flames quickly spread through the old timbers.
The homeowner says even though the building was destroyed, he intends to rebuild.
