Friends of the missing kayaker Vincent Viafore, 46, are doubtful of his fiancée's account of his disappearance.
Angelika Graswald changed her Facebook profile picture shortly after her fiancé disappeared on the Hudson River, according to Steven Hammond, a longtime friend of Viafore.
"I don't know why you'd change your Facebook picture of you when you're supposed to be grieving," Hammond says.
Police also question the 35-year-old Graswald's behavior in the days since Viafore, an experienced kayaker, presumably drowned in what was first thought to be a tragic accident on the Hudson.
On Thursday, police arrested Graswald, who is from Latvia, on a second-degree murder charge. Investigators say inconsistencies in her story led them to the arrest.
Graswald was married twice before, according to a former father-in-law. He attributed her behavior to shock.
Graswald maintains that she is wrongfully accused.
