Friends, family and local politicians are preparing to say their final farewell to former Gov. Mario Cuomo.
Mario Cuomo died last Thursday of heart failure just hours after his son, Gov. Andrew Cuomo, was sworn into office for a second term.
On Sunday evening, Gov. Andrew Cuomo's Mt. Kisco home was dark as his family prepared for the wake and funeral of the three-term governor of New York.
Mario Cuomo inspired many people, including Yonkers City Council President Chuck Lesnick, who got his start in politics with Mario Cuomo
"Mario Cuomo meant more to so many people because he gave voice to those who had no voice," he said.
The wake for Mario Cuomo will be held Monday at the Frank E. Campbell Funeral Home in Manhattan.
Funeral services will be held at St. Ignatius Loyola Church on Park Avenue on Tuesday morning.
