Friends and family of the 20-year-old who died while kayaking in a Bedford lake are reeling at the news of the tragic accident.

Police say Mauricio Michilena, of Cortlandt Manor, died after his kayak overturned in Blue Heron Lake Tuesday. Michilena was camping with three of his friends who were rescued from the lake. Police say there was evidence of drinking but are not certain if Michilena consumed any alcohol. They do say that Michilena did not know how to swim.

Michilena was a wrestling standout at Fox Lane High School and friends describe him as nice guy who everyone liked.
