Family and close friends gathered Thursday to mourn a teenage boy who was killed in a crash hours after his prom in Orange County.
Mourners gathered in Greenwood Lake at the wake of 16-year-old Dale Hirrel.
The Warwick Valley High School sophomore was killed Saturday, when the car he was a passenger in crashed into a utility pole on Long Meadow Road in Tuxedo at 5:30 a.m.
The driver, his 16-year-old friend Jacob Corti, was taken to the hospital with a broken leg.
Police say the two had been at the school prom a few hours earlier.
Officials say the crash may have been caused by speed. They say it does not appear that drugs and alcohol were to blame.
