Family members and friends mourned the loss of a 25-year-old Bronx mother Wednesday after she was shot and killed on a Mott Haven street Tuesday evening.
Nani Rowlings, a friend of the victim, says Aisha Santiago was walking with her and her 9-year-old son on East 146th Street when gunfire erupted. Rowlings says she ducked behind her laundry cart, but Santiago stood up to push her son into the doorway of their apartment building and out of harm's way. Santiago was shot in the chest and killed instantly, Rowlings says.
Police say they have two suspects in custody but are still searching for a third. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
