Freehold Library still closed following shooting

No arrests have been announced after a man was shot in the head inside of the library along East Main Street. The victim has not been identified.

In Freehold, the public library along East Main Street will stay closed until Monday, after a man was shot inside of the building on Thursday afternoon. That victim's name has been revealed however the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office has confirmed that the victim is hospitalized in critical but stable condition.

Witnesses have said that man was shot in head at around 4 p.m. Thursday before rushed off to a nearby hospital.

On Friday, employees with a company called Rapid Recovery Services were inside the building cleaning the crime scene.

As police search for a gunman, investigators may get help from surveillance cameras on the side of the building and at the rear door of the library.

Freehold police and the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office are investigating.
