A free electric shuttle service has begun in Yonkers for Palisade Towers residents impacted by a gas outage.
The Yonkers Housing Authority and the Business Council of Westchester teamed up with a company called Circuit to launch the initiative.
Residents can use an app to order a shuttle to take their laundry to another housing authority site. The service supports over 1,000 residents who’ve been without gas since August, unable to use washers and dryers.
A resident with a special-needs child first suggested the idea, having struggled to carry laundry elsewhere, . “You are walking with a lot of shopping bags, the laundry detergent, plus the kids, or you’re walking with a walker and the laundry bag, it’s hard,” said resident Ariadny Rivera.
