Former Yonkers Mayor Angelo Martinelli has died at the age of 91.
Martinelli was Yonkers’ longest serving mayor, from 1974 to 1979 and again from 1982 to 1987.
Among his accomplishments, Martinelli secured millions of dollars in economic development for the city, reactivated the Yonkers Police Athletic League and conceived the historic Putnam Rail Line.
In a statement Mayor Mike Spano said, "Mayor Martinelli is synonymous with Yonkers in every way and his contributions to our city, like his legacy, will live on forever."
