A former New York City councilman has been convicted in a federal "Corridor of Corruption" case.

It took a jury less than two hours to find Dan Halloran guilty of five counts of corruption, including bribery and fraud.

He was convicted in a plot to bribe his fellow Republicans to get state Sen. Malcolm Smith on the ballot in the city mayoral race. He was also found guilty of taking payoffs from undercover FBI informants he thought were developers.

Halloran faces up to 45 years in prison. He is scheduled to be sentenced in December; until then, he is wearing an electronic monitoring bracelet. Halloran says he will continue to fight to clear his name.

The cases against Sen. Smith and former Queens Republican leader Vincent Tabone ended in a mistrial last month.
