A Yonkers man has admitted to stealing nearly half a million dollars from an elderly couple in Manhattan.

Alfredo Mateo, who worked as a doorman at their apartment, used more than 20 stolen checks to drain their bank account, according to prosecutors.

The theft began in 2022, just one day after the woman's husband died.

Officials said Mateo also attempted to steal from the woman's pension.

He now faces up to three years in state prison.
