A former Cortlandt town worker has been sentenced to a year in jail for an illegal dumping scheme.
Prosecutors say Robert Dyckman of Verplanck received the sentence for taking bribes from a landscaping company.
This was in exchange for allowing them to dump materials at a town site, prosecutors said. The town then unknowingly paid that same company to clean up the dumped materials.
Dyckman and another man owe more than $2 million to restore the property.
