Forbes Advisor: Westchester County Airport worst in nation for holiday travel
This sure isn't what local travelers want to hear right now, but Westchester County Airport (HPN) has been ranked the worst airport to travel for the holidays.
Forbes Advisor looked at the top 100 busiest airports in the nation and found the airport in Harrison had the highest rate of air carrier delays (8.54%) and diverted flights (0.80%) among the 100 busiest airports.
It also had the third-highest percent of aircraft arriving late, on average, across the five years that were studied (7.55%) and the fourth-highest percent of canceled flights (2.63%).
The report continues by saying the HPN had the fifth-highest dollar increase in airfare price between the summer months and the holiday season ($30.49) and the third-lowest percent of on-time flights on average (75.43%).
The report says that JetBlue Airways was ranked the worst airline for holiday travel while Alaska Airlines ranked as the best.
Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport (ANC) and McGhee Tyson Airport (TYS) in Knoxville, Tennessee were the second and third lowest rated airports. Long Beach Airport (LGB) in Long Beach, California, Ellison Onizuka Kona International Airport at Keahole (KOA) in Kona, Hawaii and Norman Y. Mineta San Jose International Airport (SJC) in San Jose, California were the top three rated airports.
