Early voting continues this afternoon in the Hudson Valley, with many spots seeing hours long wait times.
At the Greenburgh Town Hall, officials are offering voters the flu and COVID vaccine while they wait.
"Since I'm here, I don't have to make another appointment. It's convenient,” says Lisa Ronco, a Greenburgh resident who was waiting to vote.
The Westchester Community Health Center will be offering those vaccines and blood pressure screenings today from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Greenburgh Town Hall
There is no cost for people with insurance. But for people without insurance, it is $30 for a flu or COVID vaccine and $66 for a high dosage of the flu vaccine.
"While they are waiting, they might just as well get a flu shot or a COVID shot and get their blood pressure checked. Sometimes you find something that you did not know was happening," says Vikki Simmons with the Westchester Community Health Center. "We think that if we make it convenient, that more people will be invested in their healthcare needs.”
About 25 people took advantage of getting their vaccine while early voting on Wednesday, according to the Westchester Community Health Center. The Health Center is hoping more people will get their vaccines today.
"It really is a great service. The Health Center has been doing this every year during early voting,” says Greenburgh Town Supervisor Paul Feiner.
Some early voters told News 12 that the option to get a vaccine while waiting to vote is very helpful.
"I thought it would just be easier to do it today,” says Joe Furnari, a Greenburgh resident.
"It gives them an inspiration and something to do so I think it's a good idea,” says Ronco.
Greenburgh officials recommend checking the livestream online before coming to early vote or get a vaccine. The livestream shows the parking lot and the lobby of the town hall. It can be found on the town's website.
