Floodwaters receding in Piermont after nor'easter

The Rockland County village of Piermont is getting back to normal today after the area was slammed by Monday's nor'easter.
The parking lot at popular Cornetta's Restaurant and Marina on Piermont Avenue was completely submerged Monday. The floodwaters made it difficult to tell where the Hudson River ends and the shoreline began.
A section of nearby Paradise Avenue was blocked due to flooding; several backyards were underwater, and the parking lot near the Piermont Pier had about a foot of water at its deepest spot.
The storm temporarily took out power and caused Sparkill Creek to overflow, but people who live in Piermont tell News12 the area is prone to flooding so they know what to expect when a big storm hits.
The water finally began to recede Monday evening so while the area will be soggy today, it will be easier to get around.
