Firefighters respond to multiple crashes in Orange

Later in the afternoon, just before 2:30 p.m., firefighters were called to a home on Oakwood Road after they say a homeowner accidentally drove a vehicle through a back wall. Fire officials say the home was deemed unstable. Firefighters and police then responded to a rollover crash on Route 34 around 6:30 p.m.

Firefighters in Orange had a busy Thursday responding to multiple crashes.

Starting the day off, crews were dispatched to Boston Post Road near Bull Hill Lane at 7:15 a.m. for a crash that required extrication.

Later in the afternoon, just before 2:30 p.m., firefighters were called to a home on Oakwood Road after they say a homeowner accidentally drove a vehicle through a back wall. Fire officials say the home was deemed unstable.

Members of the Derby Volunteer Fire Department Special Operations Unit assisted firefighters in making sure the home safe was for occupancy.

Firefighters and police then responded to a rollover crash on Route 34 around 6:30 p.m. First responders were able to stabilize the vehicle and remove the driver. They were taken to the hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening.

United Illuminating also responded to fix a telephone pole that was damaged during the incident.
