Firefighters from around the region, as well as Jared Lloyd's coworkers, gathered at Palisades Credit Union Park in Pomona to pay their respects and honor the life of the fallen firefighter.
As News 12 reported, Lloyd, along with a resident of the Evergreen Court Living Facility, was killed in a fire in Spring Valley just two weeks ago.
Fire departments from all over the tri-state made their way to the area Saturday morning.
They, along with Optimum co-workers of Lloyd's, gathered to pay tribute to the father of two whose loss they said was devastating.
"Deeply, deeply hurt me very much, just like my own family member," said Richard Pimentel, co-worker and friend of Lloyd's. "I had just spoke to him two days before the incident happened, and being here today with his personal van brought back a lot of memories."
When Lloyd was not fighting fires, he worked as a cable technician, driving van for Optimum, which accompanied dozens of fire trucks in Lloyd's funeral procession. Pimentel and Joseph Clifford both started their jobs at Optimum on the same day as Jared.
"Showing our support as well as the firefighters that are here for him, that he was also a brother of ours as well," Pimentel said.
"It's an honor and privilege to drive his truck. I volunteered right away. There was no hesitation, no second thought," Clifford added.
Lloyd will be remembered by many for his bravery, but his friends said, it's his positivity they'll miss the most.
"Never met a nicer guy," Clifford said.
