A firefighter suffered minor injuries and two dogs were rescued during a multiple‑alarm house fire Tuesday in Freehold Township, according to IAFF Local 3874.

Officials said crews responded May 5 to support operations at a residential structure fire. Initial arriving companies encountered high‑heat conditions while searching for victims and rescued two dogs from the home, officials said.

One member of Local 3874 was transported to an emergency room for evaluation after sustaining minor injuries. The union said the incident highlighted challenges faced by fire departments responding to areas with limited or no municipal water supply, requiring water to be transported to the scene by tankers.
