A house in Pound Ridge was nearly destroyed Friday morning by a fire.

Firefighters arrived at 152 Honey Hollow Road at around 7:30 a.m. Fire officials say no one was home at the time, so there were no rescue attempts. Firefighters had to pump water from a nearby pond to fight the flames.

Neighbors say the homeowners are away. There is no word on how the fire started.
