An overnight fire at an Eastchester building forced a dozen people out of their homes Monday.
Fire officials say flames broke out in a second-floor apartment just before 3 a.m. at 829 White Plains Road.
All 12 people living in the four apartments on the second and third floors got out safely, but some had to go down the fire escape because it was so smoky inside.
Investigators say all three floors of the building sustained fire, smoke and water damage.
It took about two dozen firefighters an hour to get it under control. There is no word yet on what caused the fire.
Mona Lisa Salumeria delicatessen is located on the first floor of the building.
