A Con Edison substation burst into flames Sunday in Mount Pleasant.
Fire officials say the fire occurred just after 9 a.m. Sunday at a substation located near Metro-North train tracks.
The incident shut down several blocks of Commerce Street for much of the day.
It took nearly 100 firefighters about two hours to get the fire under control.
Metro-North says it shut down service on the Harlem line for several hours, and the fire caused delays throughout the day.
MTA officials say train service was shut down as a precaution and by the afternoon, service had resumed with residual delays.
Con Ed says equipment was heavily damaged, but there were no injuries.
