Nothing says summer like a day on the water as this week’s Road Trip: Close to Home sets sail on a “reel” adventure.
Captain Danny Gladstone has been operating Fins Up Charters of Port Chester for the past 18 years and says fishing is the perfect summer escape. "It’s convenience, something close to the home. People can jump out for just a couple of hours and they can be here in 15 minutes.”
Gladstone starts off cruising around the Long Island Sound, taking in views of Connecticut, and smelling the salty air.
But this road trip isn’t just about relaxing. “We’re going to be bottom fishing and I’m targeting smaller fish and there'll be a lot of them,” says Gladstone.
You might even be able to catch your own dinner. “We’ve done this for what seven years and we’ve never not caught a fish so we always know it’s always going to happen it’s always exciting,” says Mitchell Broff, of Port Chester.
Fins Up currently take reservations for up to six people.  And before each trip,  Captain Gladstone says he sanitizes the boat from bow to stern and everything in between.  “This year I opted to not use a mate so that we could improve the social distancing.”
