Outrage is being felt from Ferguson, Missouri all the way to Spring Valley, where demonstrators gathered Tuesday night to protest a grand jury's decision not to charge a white police officer in the killing of an unarmed black teenager.
The rally was held Tuesday evening at Memorial Park and was organized by the Rockland Coalition to End the New Jim Crow. Protesters said they wanted to raise awareness about what happened to Michael Brown and other victims of what they call police injustice.
The crowd at Memorial Park was small and was outnumbered by about 50 police officers. Spring Valley Police Chief Paul Modica says he brought in the extra police as a safety precaution.
No arrests were made, as the rally remained peaceful.
