The Happy Cat Hotel & Spa has opened its doors in Greenburgh.
The unique business is a luxury location for cats – offering daily brushing, enrichment activities and 25 different themed suites with room service and housekeeping.
The rooms range from 30 to 60 square feet. Rates start at $78 and go up to $108.
The new building at 313 Central Park Ave. is the chain’s first New York location. Co-owner Christina Marrazza says she was inspired to contact the franchise owners during the COVID-19 pandemic.
"Like many people during COVID, I was kind of reevaluating my life. I had a totally different career,” she said.
Chris Raimo, founder and CEO of Happy Cat Franchising, says Marrazza was an ideal candidate and awarded her one of the 11 franchises that currently exist in the country.
“Just her personality, her background, her experience. She's a go-getter, she's a perfectionist,” he said.
The addition of the Happy Cat Hotel & Spa has impressed officials in the Town of Greenburgh, who have placed a strong emphasis on local business and revitalization in recent years.
"This is the type of business that will bring people to Central Avenue. It's exciting,” said Town Supervisor Paul Feiner.
Cat owners who attended opening day were also impressed.
“I really liked the room ‘Purris’, and I think our cats would really enjoy it,” said Zoe Schudroff.
"This just seems so safe and comfortable,” said Beth Schudroff.
The business says cats can start checking in on June 12. They are also holding a social media challenge, where the winner gets two free days at the hotel.
