According to Mayor Bloomberg?s preliminary management report, the FDNY says it is working to fix a recent delay in response times in the Bronx and city.
The mayor?s report shows emergency response times jumped citywide by an average of 14 seconds. A FDNY official says one reason for the increase is the department has fewer resources while they renovate a dispatch office.
Despite the increase in response times, the report also says that the department is working hard at reducing those times. The report adds fire safety education presentations doubled and the department completed more inspections in 2005.
