Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents surprised local officials in Beacon.

The FBI confirms that ICE was in the city on Friday. But local officials say they don’t know who was arrested or why.

Mayor Lee Kyriacou says no notice was given to his office or to the city’s police department.

“As a city, we remain committed to our safe, inclusive community,” the mayor wrote in a statement. “To avoid any policies which engender fear among law-abiding families.
