The FBI has arrested 10 accused high-level drug dealers from Peekskill involved in two alleged major drug rings reportedly peddling crack cocaine for years.
The 10 men are charged with narcotics conspiracy for allegedly distributing and possessing 28 grams or more of crack cocaine.
Peekskill Mayor Frank Catalina describes the investigation involving undercover FBI agents and confidential informants a success.
According to the U.S. Attorney for the southern district of New York, the federal charges filed Thursday put a stop to an ongoing conspiracy to distribute drugs in the Peekskill area.
Catalina says federal agents busted the men inside their respective homes early Thursday morning. Because it's a federal case, the exact locations, including where the men allegedly conducted business, were not released.
Five of the suspects were taken into custody in White Plains. Three were already in state custody and two people remain at large.
If convicted, the accused face anywhere from five to 40 years in prison.
