A Bronx man is calling for justice and searching for answers in the death of his 3-year-old son.
Benjamin Quinones believes someone beat his toddler, Poseidon, over the weekend, leaving him unconscious. He says police found bruising on the boy's head, shoulder and hips.
The 23-year-old dad, who was living in a homeless shelter, says he put his son in the care of his mother, as was suggested by the Administration for Children's Services.
The child had been with his grandmother, her husband and Quinones' half-sister for about a month. Quinones claims his son had a cut over his eye when he visited him last week, but he didn't think much of it at the time.
Poseidon passed away at Lincoln Hospital, and the medical examiner has not yet ruled on a cause of death. Benjamin's mother, Madeline Yensi, says she has her own theory about what happened.
She told News 12 over the phone on Tuesday that Poseidon was sick. She says she put him to bed Friday night and when her husband checked on him early Saturday morning, he was unresponsive.
She says her grandson was not beaten by anyone in her home.
