68-year-old Highland Mills woman killed in Cornwall crash

The woman died from her injuries. The 24-year-old driver of the other car was not seriously injured.

A 68-year-old woman from Highland Mills was killed early Monday morning in a two-car crash on Route 32 in Cornwall, according to town police.
Authorities say Donna Maher, 68, was driving northbound when her vehicle collided with a car traveling southbound, at approximately 2 a.m., as it attempted to turn left onto Quaker Avenue.
Police say the driver of that vehicle, 24-year-old Jayden De La Cruz, from South Nyack, survived the crash. He and his four passengers were taken to the hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries, according to police.
Maher was taken to the hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.

Authorities say there is no indication that alcohol or drugs were involved. The incident remains under investigation with the assistance of the county medical examiner.
Wake services for Maher will be held on Friday at the Zygmunt-Murtie Funeral home in Greenwood Lake from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral mass will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. at Saint Mary’s Church in Washingtonville.
Maher’s family issued a statement on Facebook, thanking the community for their love and support during this difficult time.
