A fast-moving fire swept through a home in Mount Vernon Wednesday, leaving four families homeless.
According to fire officials, the fire began in the basement of a two-story home on South Bleeker Street shortly after midnight. They say the flames moved rapidly through the walls to the first floor of the home. Investigators say the cause of the fire seems to be electrical.
It took 21 firefighters about 45 minutes to extinguish the flames. No one was hurt in the fire. The Red Cross is helping the families who lost their homes.
