A fast-moving fire broke out in a Tuckahoe apartment complex Thursday, displacing dozens of residents.
Investigators believe the fire broke out at the Crescent Apartments on Crescent Place and Marbledale Road while a worker was using a torch on pipes in a first floor bathroom. According to fire officials, the worker thought the fire was out when it was actually growing inside the walls. Firefighters had to knock down walls in all the bathrooms above the fire and cut a hole in the roof to vent the smoke.
No injuries were reported in the fire. Red Cross officials say tenants will be allowed back in the building and that the landlord plans to start renovations immediately.
