Scores of fans showed up at the Beechmont Tavern in New Rochelle to cheer on the Iona College men?s basketball team in the NCAA Tournament Thursday.

Iona earned the 13th seed in the Atlanta bracket after winning the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC). The Gaels faced fourth-seeded Louisiana State University (LSU) in the first round and kept the game close before dropping an 80-64 decision. Iona held a five-point lead at halftime.

Fans at the North Avenue bar, across the street from the Iona campus, say they are happy their team stayed in the game and are proud of the season the team put together.
