A crowd of DMX fans gathered at the Yonkers community center Sunday where a mural was painted as tribute to the late rap artist.
The rapper spent time and played basketball as a young boy at the Nepperhan Community Center.
Friends are remembering him not only for his music, but for his innovativeness and kindness.
"DMX was a good guy, great guy, actually, all super creative and one of the most down-to-earth people you'd ever meet. He had a great heart. A lot of people hear the stories about what he went through, of him robbing and stuff like that, but people have different circumstances in life. But this guy, he was one of a kind," says Terrence Wenham, a friend of DMX.
