About 100 members of the NYPD lined up in New City Tuesday to say goodbye to an NYPD officer who was killed in a wrong-way crash.
Richard Christopher, 32, was an eight-year veteran of the force. He was killed last week when his pickup collided with a car on the New York State Thruway.
Investigators say Christopher was travelling the wrong way at the time of the accident.
Christopher's family tells News 12 that he had been working long shifts with the NYPD. They speculate that fatigue played a role in the crash.
A preliminary autopsy found no evidence drugs or alcohol, but further blood tests will take several weeks.
Christopher is survived by several family members and his fiancee, who is pregnant with their child.
Following the funeral at the Higgins Funeral Home in New City, Christopher was buried at the Fred Loescher Cemetery in New Hempstead.
