The family of Guy Vanlew Jr., the North Carolina teen gunned down in Yonkers about a week ago, is calling for an end to bail reform.
Jesse Vanlew and his family took a stand against gun violence at Cliff Street in Yonkers - the spot where Vanlew Jr. was killed.
Vanlew says his 18-year-old nephew was trying to fit in where he didn't belong and became the latest victim of gun violence, which is now being called an epidemic in New York state.
"We should be in the streets marching, protesting,” says Vanlew. “These young boys are killing each other."
The Vanlew family wants action, including an end to bail reform, which allows those accused of certain crimes to be released without cash bail.
"You can't have a gun, get caught with a gun, do a crime with a gun and then you out of jail in two weeks. It's wrong," says Vanlew.
Yonkers police have not made an arrest in this case. They are asking anyone with information to contact them.
