The family of a Monroe man who was killed by a New Jersey state park police officer has been awarded $2.1 million in punitive damages. A Bergen County civil court jury reportedly found that officer Chad Walder used unnecessary force in April of 2006 when he shot and killed Emil Mann during a confrontation at Ringwood State Park.Walder was acquitted of criminal charges of reckless manslaughter. He has since retired.The victim was a member of the Ramapough Lenape Indian tribe. He died nine days after sustaining two gunshot wounds.
