A family is homeless after a fire ripped through their house in New City on Saturday.
Firefighters say the fire began in the basement of a home on Old Hempstead Road at around 9 a.m.
Crews say the fire quickly spread to the top floor of the house. Dozens of firefighters from multiple departments were called in to fight the blaze, but the snowy conditions made it difficult.
The five people who live inside the home were taken to Nyack Hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation. They're expected to be OK.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
