The annual citywide Juneteenth African Heritage Parade and Festival took place Saturday throughout downtown Yonkers.
The family-friendly event included vendors, music, food and activities as residents celebrated the day that marks the end of slavery in the U.S.
"I think it's a beautiful thing that Yonkers recognizes the African American community and all different cultures coming together to celebrate Juneteenth," says Yonkers resident Annie Willis.
The parade began on Warburton Avenue until its end point at the JFK Marina, where the festival is being held.
