Families in White Plains donated their time and energy Sunday to put together special holiday kits for children in need.

Almost 300 people were at the Beit Am Synagogue getting into the Hanukkah spirit as they put together the kits.

Families filled them with paper, pencils, crayons, markers, stickers -- everything a kid could need to create a magical piece of art.

Organizers said it was a great way to get kids involved with charity too and teach them an important lesson.

While the majority of the arts and crafts kits will be distributed through Westchester Jewish community services to children, about 100 of them will go to children who escaped the war in Ukraine.
