FAA: 6 killed in upstate NY crash following departure from White Plains

Six people are dead after a private plane that departed from White Plains crashed in Upstate New York, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.
Authorities say the twin-engine Mitsubishi MU-2B crashed shortly after noon on Saturday.
The wreckage was found in an open field in Copake, some 50 miles south of Albany and near the Massachusetts line.
The FAA said the plane was heading to the Columbia County Airport when it went down.
According to the Associated Press, close-knit family of physicians and distinguished recent student-athletes were on board the aircraft.
The National Transportation Safety board and the FAA will investigate.
