An auto body shop in Bedford Hills was rocked by an explosion inside the building Friday.
About a dozen workers were inside IFM Collision Center on Plainfield Avenue when they heard a loud boom around 9 a.m. Workers said the paint shop windows popped out and flames shot out of the vent on the roof.
About 60 firefighters from several northern Westchester departments responded. Bedford Hills Fire Department Chief George Graniero said when the first units arrived, there was a considerable amount of smoke and fire from coming from the roof. The fire was quickly contained and extinguished. Most of the damage was in the paint booth. There were no injuries.
Friday?s fire was the second to break out at an auto body shop in the area this week. Fire officials say the two fires appear to be coincidental. The cause of the fire at IFM Collision Center is under investigation.
