Students and staff at Hastings High School were rattled by a nearby explosion Thursday.
The explosion, which killed two contractors, happened at around 11:30 a.m. at a home on 65 Hillside Ave. The home is across the street from Hastings High School. The blast was heard and felt by some staff and students who were outside during a gym class.
School officials say all students were kept inside while they monitored the situation, They say the students were never in any danger.
The superintendent sent an email blast to parents letting them know what happened and that the children were inside.
School officials tell News 12 that the schools were dismissed at their regularly scheduled times.
