Westchester Magazine just came out with its picks for best new restaurants, and we talked to the magazine's new food editor about why one spot in Portchester is on the list. Take a listen. 1881 kitchen table in Port Chester is a fantastic spot celebrating vibrant global cuisine. They kind of have this distinct lean towards Israeli inspired dishes, so you can find these delicious me bowls with their 1881 flatbread that's served hot from their wood fire oven. Unique to Westchester, they have this hand carved Himalayan pink salt brick meat aging room, so you don't want to miss out on those steaks. Looks delicious. We love Beso by BXK in Chappaqua. We have chef Peter Kelly returning to Westchester County. He is really focused on Italian food. He's got a great wine list up there, but he's got some delicious seafood options, some great pastas. You don't want to miss the secret. The garden behind the restaurant is a very great spot to dine alfresco, and he's got this great signature brunch service called Pots, Pans, and Pasta, which is served Sundays from 11:30 to 2:30 p.m. You can just sit back, relax, and let the food come to you. We have this amazing chef, Mexican native Eric Ramirez, who's been recognized by the Michelin guide. Everything is handcrafted, and while it's a great spot for tacos and of course margaritas, I love their larger options. I love the blackened mahi mahi with jicamasla and plantains. It's delicious. Via Restaurant in Thornwood is brought to you by chef Mark Teixeira and Brian Myers. They're really doing Spanish inspired cuisine, so you have some great cocktails. You have tacos, you have tapas, you have delicious paella. They have a wine list recognized by wine spectators. There's 3. Distinct spaces to dine at Vita. There's the downstairs dining room, which is very European vibe. There's this chic upstairs lounge with crystal chandeliers. There's a fireplace, and then you have the rooftop space, which is very unique to Westchester County, and it's got its own bar and you can dine there al fresco.
