Tax Day is just around the corner and that means keeping an eye out for IRS scams.
Authorities are warning people about a number of recent scams and identity thefts. Red flags to look for are wages from an employer you've never worked for. Also, personal information requested that you wouldn't normally give over the phone or email.
Legitimate government organizations who threaten arrest or deportation for failure to pay a debt are another possible scam.
Also beware of misspelled personal information. A Westchester woman recently reported a scam where her name was misspelled in a letter.
