Rockland County Executive Ed Day is sounding the alarm, pleading for Gov. Andrew Cuomo to provide more COVID-19 vaccines as the death toll continues to mount.
"Every day that we wait is another day that we may have an unnecessary death," he told News 12. "We got one-tenth of what we ordered. We ordered 2,000 – we got 200."
Day says Rockland County has only received 1,200 doses from the state so far.
More than 800 people in the county have died from the virus.
Gov. Cuomo said this week that New York needs more vaccines from the federal government and revealed that the state received 50,000 less this week than previous weeks – from 300,000 to 250,000.
