News 12 has obtained exclusive video showing the horrifying moments during a shooting in Port Jervis Tuesday night that police say critically injured a 21-year-old man.
The violent ordeal was caught on Ring home surveillance video and given to News 12 by a neighbor. It shows a man standing outside of a car and repeated pops of light while multiple shots are fired inside the vehicle. The gunfire can’t be heard on the recording but dogs inside the residence can be heard barking before the car is seen speeding away.
Police say the victim was shot at least seven times inside the car while parked on Barcelow Street, at approximately 9:30 p.m., and drove himself critically injured to Bon Secours Hospital. He was later transported to Westchester Medical Center.
John Selja, 22, and 26-year-old Andrew Deliro, both town of Warwick residents, were arrested at a home in Warwick on Penaluna Road, according to Port Jervis police.
They’re charged with attempted murder and robbery.
Police say all three men knew each other and are seen in a surveillance photo given to News 12 by a neighbor hanging out on the block for about an hour before the violence rang out.
“Never really had any issues until last night and it’s kind of getting nerve-racking. I have a 14 and 16-year-old,” says one neighbor who asked to remain anonymous.
Nearby residents are disturbed by the shooting and other crime in the community.
“It’s really crazy. I just don’t understand what’s going on with the drugs around here. It’s horrible,” says Brenda Wildrick. She lives at the home the men were parked outside of.
On Wednesday, pieces of glass were seen on the street where the shooting happened. Police say the victim’s windows were shot out by gunfire.
Deliro and Selja are being held in Orange County Jail on $500,000 bail.
