A former Middletown High School teacher is accused of paying for child pornography.
Federal authorities say SUNY Orange Biology teacher Matthew Sauer had been paying for images and videos of prepubescent children from the Philippines for years.
According to the federal complaint, Sauer exchanged multiple emails with the seller, including one which read, "You like videos and pics," and Sauer replied, "How much?"
Sauer is on paid administrative leave from SUNY Orange and resigned from his teaching job at Middletown High School last year.
Authorities say Sauer was found with videos and dozens of pictures showing prepubescent girls either nude or engaged in sex acts with grown men. They say he sent cash 282 times to the Philippines through Western Union between 2012 and 2014, and took a trip there to visit the seller during that time.
Officials claim Sauer admitted to paying for various online sexual images, as well as video chats with "younger people."
He was released on $50,000 bond.
