Two EMS workers from Catskill have resigned following the release of a video allegedly showing them mistreating a disabled patient.
The video captures Thomas Weygant, who was experiencing high blood sugar levels, struggling to navigate stairs and climb into an ambulance on his own. Weygant reported feeling dizzy and unable to walk due to his condition.
Town of Catskill officials identified the EMTs as Laura Mastrantuono and Justin Ball. Weygant mentioned that the EMTs later approached him in the emergency room, requesting the removal of the video from social media. "They came over to the emergency room and told me, 'Take the video off because I might lose my job over this,'" Weygant recounted. "And I told them, 'No, I'm not taking it off. You gotta pay the price.'"
Weygant is now out of the hospital and back home.
